Born Shannen Maria Doherty in Memphis, Tennessee on April 12, 1971, (making her an Aries). Shannen was born to two strict
Baptist parents who disciplined her from a young age. Once, Shannens mother Rosa washed her mouth out because she had sworn.
Shannen and her family were very close, in 1978, when Shannen was only seven, the family moved to Los Angeles. Shannens father,
Tom, was a banker and her mother owned a beauty parlour. She also has a brother named Sean. Shannen had decided by age seven
she wanted to pursue acting. She auditioned, and soon after she made her debut at age 10, with a role on the series 'Father
Murphy'.
Shannen was a smart and conscientious student, who, whilst being involved in several school productions, always worked
hard at her classes and always kept exceptional grades. She was a popular student but preferred to keep to herself rather
than hang around in large groups.
Shannen found more success in her role as Jenny Wilder on 'Little House: A New Beginning' It was actually Michael Landon
who noticed her in an episode of Father Murphy, and from that he decided to cast her. After Little house she appeared on Our
House with Deidre Hall and Wilford Brimley. She stared with Sarah Jessica Parker in Girls just want to have fun then a few
years later she stared in the black comedy Heathers alongside Winona Rider.
Shannens major break came at 19 years of age, when in 1990 she won the role of Brenda on Beverly Hills 90210. Brenda,
twin sister of Brandon Walsh connected to teenage girls everywhere and gave Shannen celebrity status all over the world. She
was also known for raising hell, In 1992, Shannen was a guest on "The Dennis Miller Show" (1992). She appeared on
the fourth show which meant that host, Miller, was still in the process of getting used to the talk-show format. Early in
the interview she rudely asked Miller if he was nervous and went on to point out his eyebrow which was twitching nervously.
This made headlines the next day and before long, Miller was routinely making an effort to lampoon her on his talk show.
Shannen was removed at the end of 4th season (March 1994). According to producer Aaron Spelling because of constant conflicts
with other cast members and repeatedly late appearances on the set. After Shannen left the series she stayed low and worked
on few projects, including Mallrats and Almost Dead which kept her in the public conscience.
Shannen made a small comeback staring in 'Gone In The Night', 'Robert Kennedy & His Times', 'Sleeping With The Devil',
'The Ticket' and the much loved 'Friends Til The End' but her real comeback was when she was offered the role of Prue Halliwell
in the TV series Charmed, alongside her best friend Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano. Shannen left after three season saying
she was ready to be challenged again and wanted to work with people who really cared about acting. I dont want to work with
people who bitch about their job, she said in an ET interview. Sources claimed her exit was due to on set tension with Alyssa
Milano.
Shannen didnt stop working when she left Charmed, going in to several new productions, including; 'The Rendering' (AKA:
'Portrait of Murder') 'Another Day' 'The Battle of Mary Kay' and 'Night Light' (AKA: 'View of Terror'). Shannen also hosted
season one of "Scare Tactics" and eight episodes of season two but she had to leave as she wanted to work on producing
her own sitcom. She is also working on another new show. It seems that this project will be pushed back to 2006. She will
be acting and producing in the first, however for the second she is only producing. Shannen has also recently appeared in
the short lived TV series North Shore
Shannen has dated many high profile men in the past, including Dean Factor who owns a photo studio they met in 1990 and
were briefly engaged they separated 1991. She then dated Chris Foufas who was a real-estate developer the couple exchanged
commitment rings 1991 but separated 1992. She married Ashley Hamilton who is the son of actor George Hamilton in September
24, 1993, but they where divorced five months later because Shannen felt they just were not right for each other. Judd Nelson
