Charmed News

Abby: A human woman, and bartender at P3, that developed a fixation with Prue Halliwell. She was able to capture Prue by blinding her, but proved no match for the sisters magickal abilities.

Abraxas: A demon of the astral plane that succeeded in stealing the Book Of Shadows from the attic. He displayed the ability to open portals between the astral plane and the earthly plane, demonize the spells in the Book Of Shadows by reading them backwards and erasing them, transport beings from the astral plane to the physical plane, and emit force blasts.

The Charmed Ones vanquished Abraxas by drawing him to a place of power and harnessing the energy of the equinox by reciting the words to the incantation to unbind their powers.

Piper blasts the forcefield Academy, The: Guarded by charms which hid it from those not specifically seeking it and warned of an intruders approach, The Academy was a demonic outpost in the mortal realm run by Ludlow. The Academy boasted doors capable of becoming immaterial as well as an incredibly powerful forcefield capable of repelling physical strikes, energy balls, and even a hasty spell cast by The Charmed Ones.

Door unlock,
No magick block

The forcefield completely sealed The Academy, even against entry by orbing. Only repeated strikes by Piper Halliwells particle acceleration ability were able to eventually breach it.

Adjusting: Molecular motion within a body so strong that it cannot be contained by particle stasis. This is a common occurrence among higher-level demons, and occasionally, Warlocks.
Depending on the strength of the demon a freeze might have no effect, may slow them momentarily, or might even hold them in stasis for a short time before their bodies adjust enough to allow them to break free. In certain cases a demonic being may be vulnerable to freezing several times before this power can function effectively.

Agnes, Sister: Patty Halliwell and the Whitelighter Sam charged this nun with the task of finding a home for their baby. Their only request was that she be named with a P, and that when the baby eventually came to ask she would be told the reasons why she was given up.

Akashic Records: A detailed account of all the events in history, including those that will happen in the future. The Warlocks known as the Collectors coveted the Akashic Records, and the ultimate knowledge they would provide, as it would make them unstoppable.

Alchemists: Supernatural beings with the ability to transmute anything water to gold, energy to matter. This ability gives alchemists several abilities: they can create life essences, track them, and even raise the dead.
For more information on an Alchemist see: Kierkan.

Alec: A Darklighter who fell in love with a human woman, Daisy. She rejected him when she found out what he was. The Charmed Ones vanquished him after he tried to kill Leo and Daisy.

Alistair: The Source assigned this chameleon demon to infiltrate the Halliwell manor and gather information on the sisters. The Source vanquished him after he was exposed by The Charmed Ones, assuming his form to lure them into a trap.

Altman, Gail: A member of Grams Halliwells coven who knew of the existence of the Charmed Ones. She was a Witch who did not possess any special powers, but was able to cast spells. To stop herself from dying of a disease she summoned the demon Cryto and made a bargain with him for youth and beauty. The deal backfired and Cryto killed her.

Amulet Of Deflection: A magickal amulet capable of protecting the wearer from all magickal powers and spells. The Warlock Anton gave it to his Witch lover in the 1920s, but it later came into the possession of the Charmed Ones.

Amulets in the Book Of Shadows Amulet Of Protection: A powerful magickal amulet that could be wielded only by the forces of good. The amulet had the power to make its wearer invincible and, because of this, was split into two halves to stop it falling into the wrongs hands.
The two halves were distributed to two San Francisco covens, and each half was capable of protecting its wearer in two ways: by projecting energy shields capable of stopping even energy balls, and by striking evil beings with magickal force. In addition the amulet, and its halves, warded off all forms of magick, white or black. No spells could affect a wearer of an amulet, with even passive magicks such as scrying being deflected.
The Activation Spell in the Book Of Shadows was the only thing capable of rejoining the two halves of the amulet, and unleashing their full power.
Only the strongest of demons, such as Belthazor, were able to overcome a halves protection and take it from a wearer. Half of the amulet was captured by evil, and presumably destroyed, while The Charmed Ones retained the second half.

An Ling: Daughter of a wisended Zen Master and adept in the ways of Zen and martial arts. After her father passed on through reincarnation An Ling took on his mantle as Master.

Anarchy, Demon Of: Little is known of this demon. The Book Of Shadows indicates he is quite easy to dispose of, requiring only a potion and a basic chant to vanquish:

Sower of discord,
Your works now must cease,
I vanquish thee now,
With these words of peace

Having mistaken one of the Four Horsemen for the Demon Of Anarchy, the combination of The Charmed Ones casting this spell, and the Horsemens magick was able to send to Prue and a Horseman to a parallel plane.
Reversing the spells, and the casters positions in the pentagram, was able to re-open the vortex and rescue Prue and War from the parallel plane. The words to the reversal were:

Sower of discord,
Your help we implore,
I summon thee now,
With these words of truce

Andras: The Spirit of Rage. Andras tossed balls of black and red energy at his victims, turning their anger into rage, which was only abated when they committed a grievous act of violence. Andras boasted that using this power he had turned nations against each other, started wars, and caused riots.
Andras' entry in the Book Of Shadows A weakness of Andras abilities was that his victims needed to be angry, or his power would not affect them.
Andras also displayed the power to teleport and to possess an angry victim. When possessing a victim his form became immaterial and was absorbed into their body; once the possession was over, and he left his host, his form became solid again.
The demon Belthazor vanquished Andras with an energy ball. It is not known what other ways, if any, there are to vanquish him.
Andras appeared as a human male.

Andrea: Assistant to Inspector Davidson. Her assignment to trail the Halliwells led to her death at the hands of seekers.

Animal Men: A snake, rabbit, and pig that were transformed into men by a spell. They were fully human at first but later developed animal traits as the spell began to wear off. The snake-man For example the snake regained a long tongue, sharp teeth, and an ability to poison people. Though the animals were transformed into men they still retained animalistic characteristics in their personalities.
The rabbit and snake men killed their pig companion, then blackmailed Phoebe Halliwell into making them real men permanently. The Charmed Ones made sure Inspector Morris captured the animal men and sent them to jail for life.

Anton: A powerful Warlock existing since at least the beginning of the 1900s. Anton was immortal and held three powers: glamouring, adjusting, and great strength. He also possessed a great knowledge of magick, fashioning a potion to triple the flame throwing power of his lover and soul mate, P. Russell, and obtaining an amulet capable Anton and P. Russell of deflecting all magicks.
In 1924 Anton seduced P. Russell, a Witch, and turned her against her cousins. The two tried to kill them, but failed, and instead it was the cousins who cursed and killed Russell.
Anton also attempted to switch the souls of Russell and her future incarnation, Phoebe Halliwell, but was seemingly vanquished by The Charmed Ones. Whether he has really been destroyed remains to be seen.

Apocalypse, The: The destruction of the world, leading to its end. The Four Horsemen are charged with bringing about this day.

Apples: The fruit of knowledge and an important ingredient in old magick. An apple holds a pentagram in its heart. By slicing it in two and adding a laurel leaf one can block the path of evil.

Astral Plane: A purely mental plane that co-exists within our own plane. The demon Abraxas existed here.

Astral Projection: Psychic projection of ones consciousness. There are two distinct versions of this ability displayed by magickal beings.
When telepathically astral projecting ones mind inhabits an invisible and intangible astral body, undetectable in the physical world yet able to observe it. The Warlock known as Rex Buckland possessed this power and was able to use it to instantly transport his mind anywhere he wished, while still retaining use of his telepathic abilities.
Conversely telekinetic astral projection, as displayed by Prue Halliwell, involves the transportation of the mind into a solid and visible psychic body, completely detectable on the physical plane and able to interact with it. While projecting Prues astral form did not retain her telekinetic abilities.
Astral forms can be summoned using a spell from The Book Of Shadows, as Phoebe Halliwell demonstrated on Prues wayward astral self.

Prue discovers her power to astral project Prue's astral body

Astral Prue: A splinter of Prue Halliwells subconscious mind that used her astral form to break free. At first it was only able to manifest when the real Prue was sleeping, but later was able to force its way free, rendering Prue unconscious.
Astral Prue was more uninhibited and wilder than the normal Prue, and sought a life free of obligations. She was Prues or desires, given form, and was only integrated back into the real Prue when Phoebe Halliwell convinced her that she was Prue.
This event gave Prue the push she needed to help her form a more balanced life, and stop her focusing all her energies on The Charmed Ones.

Atheme: Double-bladed, ceremonial, knives with supernatural properties. A strike from a magickally charged atheme is often enough to vanquish even a very strong demon. Athemes can even be used to direct magickal energy. The Warlock Jeremy wielded power through an Atheme, as have several other supernatural beings.

Cole Turner's Atheme

Attic: The room atop Halliwell Manor that houses the Book Of Shadows.

Attract a Lover, How To: A spell to attract people to oneself, making them believe they are in love with you. At first this spell is quite successful, but as it continues it begins to attract everyone and his or her love becomes dangerously obsessive. People under the influence of a love spell can even become violent towards the object of their affection.
The casting of the spell required that one write the qualities they desired in a lover on a piece of paper. These lists were then placed in a bag and put in a pot with other ingredients, such as kian pepper. The following spell then needed to be cast over the pot:

I conjure thee, I conjure thee,
Im the queen, youre the bee,
As I desire,
So shall it be!

The only way to end the spell is to reverse it, erasing the memories of the spells events from the minds of everyone but the individuals who cast it. The method of reversing the spell is not known.
If the caster is a man seeking a woman the procedure for the spell is different, and involves keeping a piece of honey cake under a sweaty armpit for days.

Auras: Energy fields that surround all people. Grimlocks are able to see these auras by stealing the sight of children. Each persons auras are different and Grimlocks are especially attracted to the unique auras that surround the good.

Ava: A midwife and Witch who lived in the 1670s. Her coven was responsible for casting spells to prepare the way for the time traveling Charmed Ones.
Though she had no special magickal power she was quite adept and spells and rituals, and was able to teach the Halliwells how to tap into older magick.

Aviva: A lonely and confused mortal girl granted powers by the demon Kali, whom she believed to be a good spirit. Avivas borrowed ability was pyrokinesis and she was able to use it to project heat, ignite flame, or throw fireballs from her hands.
When Kali was vanquished Aviva lost her powers, but while in possession of them was immune to particle stasis as true good Witches are.

Awakening Spell: Prue and Phoebe Halliwell cast this spell for personal gain to save Piper from Aroya fever. As a consequence the sisters could not sleep, and a poppet that the sisters used in the spell was animated and began spreading the disease.
The spell involved taking a poppet, covered in the persons blood, and placing it upon them. You must then say the words:

Troubled blood, with sleeps unease,
Remove the cause of this disease,
Sleep eternal nevermore,
Shift this source of illness borne,
To this poppet, whom none shall mourn

Prue and Phoebe later reversed the spell because of the consequences it had. To do this they had to recite the words:

What was awakened from its sleep,
Must once again slumber deep,
Return the disease to whence it came,
So life can ease back to the same

The Reverse Awakening spell

Curiously Prue and Phoebe were only heard to cast the first two lines of the reversal spell, yet it was still effective.

Bane: A wealthy criminal, Bane was hired by Barbas to kill the Charmed Ones. He in turned hired Ms. Hellfire, an assassin, to do the job. Hellfire failed, and the Charmed Ones eventually ensured Bane would go to prison. Bane had an attraction to Prue Halliwell, although he first thought she was Ms. Hellfire.
Bane is a mortal with no supernatural powers, although he is aware of the existence of supernatural beings and demons. This is the reason that the demon Litvack targeted him for death after he was sent to prison. With the help of the Charmed Ones Bane was able to kill Litvack and save his own life.
Though Bane had formed an attachment to Prue Halliwell he volunteered to go back to prison and serve out his sentence.

Banshees in the BOS Banshees: Rare demons who feed on souls in great emotional pain. Banshees are attracted to their inner cry and driven to destroy them.
They emit a high-pitched cry, inaudible to human ears, and use it like sonar to zero in on the waves of pain emanating from the stricken. Once theyve located a victim their call turns into a scream that kills: capable of shattering glass, liquefying internal organs and bursting blood vessels. Banshees are also very strong, and possess the ability to leap great distances.
Phoebe Halliwell as a Banshee A Banshees scream may kill a human, but it has a very different effect on a Witch in pain, turning them into Banshees. This transformation is not permanent until the newly formed Banshee kills, and can be reversed. If the source of the Banshee's pain can be eliminated then they will revert to their former selves.
Though there is no spell to destroy Banshees in the Book Of Shadows, there is a spell to track them. For more information on this see: Banshee, Spell To Track A.
Piper Halliwell was able to destroy a Banshee by using molecular acceleration to blow her up. Other ways to vanquish a Banshee are not known.
Banshees appear as human females with white hair and vampire fangs. They wear tattered rags for clothing.

Banshee, Spell To Track A: A spell in the Book Of Shadows to give someone the ability to hear the call of a Banshee. When the Charmed Ones cast this spell they assumed it would simply give a human this ability. Instead the spell transformed the tracker into a dog, as all dogs can hear a Banshees cry.
To cast the spell the designated tracker must stand in a circle of candles. From outside the circle a Witch must recite these words:

The piercing cry,
That feeds on pain,
And leaves more sorrow than it gains,
Shall now be heard by one who seeks,
To stop the havoc that it wreaks

The tracker remains a dog until the threat of the Banshee has passed. While transformed the tracker is capable of understanding everything that is said, but is overwhelmed by instinct and will behave like a dog.
The tracking spell the Charmed Ones cast was only reversed when all of the Banshees had been destroyed or reverted, not just the Banshee the spell had originally been cast to track.

Barbas, The Demon of Fear: Barbas returns to the earthly dimension every 1300 years on Friday the 13th. He must kill 13 Witches before midnight to be freed from purgatory.
Barbas appeared during the lifetimes of the Halliwell sisters, and was vanquished by Prue. Because of a deal he was able to return again to try and finish his work, but the sisters stopped him once more.
Barbas was able to use a persons greatest fear against them. In the face of their greatest fear a Witches power was helpless against him. Barbas also showed the ability to control someones mind by tapping into their fears and twisting them to his own ends.
Barbas hired the criminal Bane to kill the Witches he was unable to on Friday the 13th.

Baxter, P: The great, great grandmother of The Charmed Ones, Baxter was a Witch who lived in the Manor in the 1920s, possessing the power to freeze (particle stasis). She and her cousin, P Bowen, cursed and killed their cousin P Russell in 1924.
Baxter was an earlier incarnation of Piper Halliwell, and also faced a choice between the souls of Leo and Dan.

Belland, Glenn: Childhood friend and erstwhile boyfriend of Paige Matthews. He visits her in between his globe trotting adventures and is one of the few mortals privileged with the knowledge of The Charmed Ones existence.

The demon Belthazor: Soldier of fortune and human/demon hybrid sent by The Triad to kill the Halliwell sisters, Belthazor was the demon half of Cole Turner. When in demon form Belthazor was extremely large and muscular, with red skin covered in black markings. Though able to change form at will, he had difficulty retaining his human form if injured.
Belthazor possessed great strength, the ability to cast deadly energy balls, adjusting, and the power to shimmer. He was able to detect the presence of a Whitelighter by touch, and had psychic senses capable of identifying human murderers and tracking shimmers through planes. For a time Belthazor was also gifted by The Triad with pyrokinesis, telekinesis and the ability to remotely teleport objects, but these powers were removed when he betrayed them for the love of Phoebe Halliwell, killing them.

Belthazors demonic abilities were tied to his inherent evil nature and by turning to good and loving Phoebe he weakened them. His strength and shimmering were unaffected, as was his power to cast energy balls, but his adjusting ability suffered greatly, at times leaving him completely open to freezing by particle stasis.
Considered one of the deadliest demons, until turning to good, Belthazor murdered hundreds of innocents and Witches, without conscience or remorse, earning infamy enough to gain an entry in the Book Of Shadows and membership of the demonic Brotherhood of the Thorn for over a hundred years. He bested extremely powerful adversaries, both demonic and virtuous, but his final fate came at the hands of a human woman whose fiancé he had murdered. She struck him with Phoebe Halliwells power stripping potion, completely eradicating the demonic Belthazor and leaving only a wholly human Cole Turner.

Belthazor, Spell To Summon: Written by Prue Halliwell and capable of summoning the demon Belthazor, this spell worked by calling magick to magick. Once cast the spell was able to draw Belthazor to the caster, creating a tiny tornado within which space was warped.

Magick forces black and white,
Reaching out through space and light,
Be he far or be he near,
Bring us the demon Belthazor here

This spell was only effective on Belthazor as long as he was capable of shimmering, tapping into this ability to move him through space and dimensions, and so long as he chose to allow it. By switching to his demonic form Belthazor could negate the effects of the spell, though it took great effort, and resist its call.
When The Charmed Ones attempted to cast this spell on a wounded Belthazor they instead summoned the demon bounty hunter Krell, accidentally tapping into his raying ability as a Zotar and drawing him to the manor.

Belthazor Vanquish: A potion capable of vanquishing the demon Belthazor. The key ingredient was a piece of his flesh, and the potion would not have worked without it.
Once brewed all three of the Charmed Ones needed to recite the incantation over the pot to activate the potion. This was necessary as Belthazor is so powerful a demon that it is to be assumed that nothing less than the Power Of Three would vanquish him.
The incantation was:

Spirits of air,
Forest and sea;
Set us of this demon free;
Beasts of hoof and beasts of shell,
Drive this evil back to Hell!

The Vanquish for Belthazor

Belthazors Grimoire: A magickal tome, similar to the Halliwell Book Of Shadows, possessed by the demon Belthazor. It contained spells and information on his current assignments.
The book had magickal properties and was able to be teleported by Belthazor at will. Waving his hand over the cover made the book disappear, possibly sending it to another dimension, until it was needed again.

Bennett, Victor: A mortal that married the Witch Patty. He never wanted the girls to learn that they were Witches and have their powers unbound, leaving them to be raised by their Grams. He returned after they regained their powers and tried to convince them to give him the Book Of Shadows, but has since accepted his daughters as grown women, capable of protecting themselves and wielding their magick.
In between his departure from the sisters lives and his return, Victor became quite wealthy.
Victors wedding band is a ring that is capable of blunting the force of magick spells, though it affords no protection from magickal powers.

Berman, Whitaker: See Dream Sorcerer.

Binding: Locking of a magickal beings powers, preventing their use. A binding can take the form of a spell or a potion, and can be reversed, or may reverse themselves when the Witch who cast them dies.

Blemish Curse: Designed to upset Phoebe Halliwells wedding day the blemish spell had the double effect of causing a breakout of pimples on Phoebes face, as well as countering the magick The Source anticipated the Halliwells would use to hide the blemishes.
When the vanishing spell was cast on Phoebe it had the unintended effect of causing all of her to turn invisible, not just the acne, remaining in effect until the marriage had been successfully prevented from occurring. The Halliwells were unable to break the curse, but Paige was able to shift the invisibility from Phoebe to herself in the hopes the wedding might continue.
Latin verses must be said over the intended victim, while sprinkling a powder on the face, to activate the curse.

Blessing: Giving magickal properties to an object. Patty Halliwell blessed the ring of the Warlock Nicholas, giving him immunity to the powers of her daughters. The individual who made the original blessing can also reverse it.

Blinking: Possessed by a great number of Warlocks this power takes its name from individuals ability to move from place to place in the blink of an eye. Though often considered evil, Melinda Warren believed this power to have originated from good Witches in the 1600s.

Book Of Shadows, The: Created by Melinda in 1693 and passed down through the line of Warren Witches ever since, with each adding to it over the centuries, The Book Of Shadows is a repository of magickal knowledge containing spells, potions, history, and information on all kinds of magickal beings; as well as being charmed its own right. The Book and the magick of The Charmed Ones are connected; what affects one affects the other, and only a Witch of Warren blood can remove the Book from Halliwell Manor. The Books magick means that most demonic beings unable to touch it.

Bottomless Pit Of Everlasting Torment: A passageway to a dimension of despair, possibly existing in the same dimensional plane as that of demons. The demonic sin infector Lucas possessed a staff capable of opening a portal to this place of torment. Striking the staff on the ground twice opened the pit, and two more strikes closed it.

Bounty Hunters, Demonic: See: Zotars.

Bowen, P: A Witch in the Warren line who lived in the 1920s. Bowen was a previous incarnation of Prue Halliwell, a renowned photographer, and a Witch with the power of ice-blasting. She and P Baxter killed and cursed their cousin, P Russell, in 1924.

Brianna: A Witch, and the great, great, great aunt of the Halliwells. She had the power of telekinesis and was responsible for defeating and humiliating the Lord of War Gabrielle. Brianna channeled her power through her hands, but it is to be assumed that she first channeled it through her eyes. Her power was very strong and allowed her to move things great distances.

Brooke: A human woman cursed by The Sorcerer. She was a wolf by night, and a human by day. The Charmed Ones reunited her with her love Christopher. For more information see: Lycanthropy Curse, The.

Brooms: A tool of old magick. Sweeping a broom east to west, tracing the same path as the sun travels, will sweep evil from your path. Phoebe Halliwell was also able to use one to levitate herself, scaring away Witch hunters in the 1600s.

Brotherhood Of The Thorn, The: Selected by The Source himself, and answerable only to him, the Brotherhood is a group of exclusively high-level demons, once counting the mighty Belthazor among its number. Most members of the Thorn possess similar powers to Belthazor and, because of the blood oath they swear upon joining, can be vanquished by the same potion capable of destroying him.
Reynor was the ultimate authority in the Brotherhood before Cole Turner killed him, but Vornak controlled the day to day actions of the group. During the Lexirom fiasco The Charmed Ones vanquished Vornak, and senior members Tarkin and Trigs, setting the Brotherhood back substantially and leaving them without a leader.

Buckland, Rex: Rex was a Warlock with telepathic abilities. With them he could read minds, astral project and cause people to see and act how he wished. Rex and the Warlock Hannah worked in conjunction. He posed as the owner of the auction house, and she one of its employees, in an attempt to steal The Charmed Ones powers. Hannah accidentally killed him after an attempt to force the sisters to surrender their powers failed.

Buckland's: An auction house where Prue Halliwell once worked. For a time the Warlock Rex posed as the owner, and Hannah as one of its employees.

Caan, Ruth: A wealthy woman in the 1600s who practiced rituals of dark magick, and organized squads of Witch hunters to eliminate her opposition. By reading cards Ruth was able to divine facts by clairvoyance.
Ruths plan was to seize Melinda Warren when she was born, and twist the babys powers to her own ends. To ensure this she kidnapped Melindas mother while she was still pregnant, but The Charmed Ones foiled her plans, despite Belthazors aid.

Call A Lost Sister: A re-wording of the spell to Call A Lost Witch. Phoebe Halliwell and Paige Matthews created this spell to draw Piper Halliwell back to the Manor after her transformation into a Fury.
Because the call of the spell would not be strong enough to lure a Fury in blood lust the sister sweetened it by adding some of Cole Turners blood, offering him as evil bait. While speaking the words the sisters dripped Coles blood onto a candle.

Power of the sister's rise,
Course unseen across the skies,
Come to use who call you near,
Come to us and settle here

Blood to blood,
I summon thee,
Blood to blood return to me

Call A Lover To Oneself, To: A spell and potion created by the Evil Enchantress to appropriate The Princes love for the Lady Julia and transfer it to herself.
Once the potion was cast at The Princes feet he would answer the spells call, believing he loved Paiges soul, through all of her lives. As a consequence when the present day Paige recited the spell the Prince was drawn through time to her, madly in love with her present self.
As part and parcel of the spell The Prince was able to sense his loves location at all times, compelled to follow the pull of her heart and be with her.
Once the Enchantresss powers were bound the spell ceased to have any effect, and The Prince loved the Lady Julia once again.

Being together my prince and me,
Let him fall on bended knee,
I summon him to my side,
That he may take me to be his destined bride

Call A Lost Witch: A ritual compiled from other magickal spells by Piper Halliwell. It was designed to bring Prue Halliwell back to life, but failed, instead having the unforeseen effect of drawing Paige Matthews back to the family.
The spell recited had three verses. After the first was recited Piper placed herbs in a bowl, and then before reciting the third she cut her hand and added blood to the mixture.

In this night and in this hour,
I call upon the ancient power,
Bring back my sister,
Bring back the Power Of Three

Power of the Witches rise,
Course unseen across the skies,
Come to us who call you near,
Come to us and settle here

Blood to blood,
I summon thee,
Blood to blood return to me

This spell remained in effect until Paige returned to the Manor, mystically calling to her spirit, and also manifesting a paper in Paiges office open to Prues obituary to lead her to the funeral.

Call A Witchs Power, To: An incantation to summon a Witchs separated powers, either into a new vessel after a separation potion had been consumed, or to call it back into the Witch after her abilities had been stolen.
To call the separated powers of a Witch into a body requires the forming of a circle and repeated chanting until the powers answer.

Powers of the Witches rise,
Course unseen across the skies,
Come to us who call you near,
Come to us and settle here

To Call A Witch's Power

The same process can be used to reverse a power stealing, but if a Witch calls for her power without it first being separated from the new holder she runs the risk of accidentally summoning the being as well.

Camp Skylark: The childhood Summer Camp of Prue and Piper Halliwell. It was shutdown due to the large number of suspicious drownings that occurred in the camp lake.
It was here that the Water Demon killed Patty Halliwell, and here that The Charmed Ones finally vanquished it.

Carlton, Jeff: The manager of the music group Dishwalla. He used his pact with the demon Masselin to attract successful bands to him. The more souls that he fed Masselin the more successful he became. The willing souls that he gave Masselin were usually groupies of the band, and the Police became suspicious of the disappearances at Dishwallas gigs.
At first Carlton was a willing accomplice to the pact but when the police began investigating him he wanted to break it. Masselin forced him to honor their pact by threatening to burn the flesh from his bones for eternity.
When the Charmed Ones vanquished Masselin Carlton was freed from the pact but was taken away by Morris to pay for his crimes.

Carrie: Member of the coven of the triple crescent and a Witch. She fell victim to the demon Sykes' quest to emulate Belthazor.

Chameleons: Shape shifting, demonic, spies able to assume any shape or form. They possess the ability to see and hear even when mimicking inorganic forms, such as a lamp; and are able to instantaneously regenerate any damages to their form. In addition to these powers chameleons can also shimmer and are telekinetic.
The Charmed Ones possessed a spell capable of vanquishing a chameleon but never had cause to use it. The spell is:

Evil hiding in plain site,
I use this spell with all my might,
To stop your changing form and shape,
This vanquish seals your fate

Chameleons lack traditional bodies, but any cells separated from their form revert to a green, blood like, liquid.

Chandelier: The crystal light fitting in the main hall of Halliwell Manor. It has a spiritual connection to the inhabitants and glowed both on the night Prue, Piper and Phoebe Halliwells powers were unbound, and when Paige Matthews was reunited with her sisters.

Mark Chao, Mark: The first ghost the Charmed Ones encountered. He was murdered by gang members and sought the Halliwells help in avenging his death, and also their protection from the demon Gatekeeper Yama who wanted to claim his soul.
After his body received a proper burial Mark moved on to a higher plane. While alive he was both a great Chef, and a molecular biologist. As a ghost he shared an attraction with Piper Halliwell.

Charlotte: The mother of Melinda Warren. After The Charmed Ones rescued her from Ruth Caan, Avas coven shielded she and her baby from harm.
Though Charlotte gave birth to an extremely powerful Witch she did not have any magickal abilities of her own.

Charlotte Baby Melinda

Charmed Ones, The: See: The Charmed Ones.

Charms: Small, symbolic, trinkets that can be charged with magick. Imbued with the power of Halloween by Belthazor the charms around Ruth Caans estate were able to create an energy field which violently repelled Witches.
Despite their power Phoebe Halliwell was able to use old magick to overcome them, and pass the barrier.

Chosen One: A person born in every generation that was capable of wielding Tuathas magick wand against her. Apart from this they were mortal and possessed no supernatural abilities. The Chosen one that succeeded in vanquishing Tuatha was Kyle, the seventh son of the seventh son, and the seventh generation of Chosen Ones.
Once Tuatha was freed the wand would find its way to the Chosen One.

Christopher: Cursed to be an owl by day, and a human by night. After narrowly escaping death he was able to break his curse with the help of The Charmed Ones. For more information see: Lycanthropy Curse, The.

Clones: See: Multiplication Spell and Cloning.

Cloning: A power that allows the user to create an exact duplicate, or clone of themselves, complete with any powers the user has. The clone is able to act independently, as though it were a real person, but the cloning can only be maintained for a short time, after which the clone evaporates. Eames, the Warlock, gained this power after killing a Witch in Glasgow.

For Paige a trip to the past means braces again Clyde: Oft times referred to as a malevolent spirit, Clyde is also known as the Ghost Of The Past. For a price Clyde is capable of sending a being back in time to re-experience parts of their life in their past bodies. Usually Clyde will guide a client, shepherding them through the trip, but in certain cases he is capable of sending another through time to act as an immaterial companion.
Clydes method of transporting clients is the Doorway To The Past, necessitating his ability to capture and return spirits in the void.
The only way to make Clyde appear is to make him mad. He ignores all spells of summoning but, capable of hearing a call, will respond to a tirade of insults.

Gamill Collector, The: After a run in with a Witch in the 1970s the demon Gamill was cursed to appear as ugly on the outside as he was internally, forcing him to create a golem in his previous image to lure female victims to his lair.
Once captured, Gamills victims were shrunk, covered in clay and baked into hideous one of a kind figurines for his macabre collection.
Gamill possessed a small, metallic, wand capable of emitting energy beams with two distinct functions: a blue lightning beam that shrunk whatever it struck, and a red disintegration beam. He also possessed enough magickal skill and power to create golems from clay.
Gamills method of murder was grisly but he was not a dangerous foe, primarily choosing to hide instead of fight. By turning his own wand against him, and using a power of three spell Phoebe had written, The Charmed Ones were able to vanquish him.

Small of mind,
Big of woe,
The pain you caused,
You now will know

Once Gamill was vanquished all of his living victims were returned to their normal states.

Phoebe is shrunk A clay covered victim Piper and Paige are shrunk Gamill's wand is turned against him

Collectors, The: A group of Warlocks who are able to drain knowledge through needle like finger protrusions. It is unknown what other powers these Warlocks shared but all Collectors seen thus far have possessed the ability to blink, as well as a measure of invulnerability. The Collectors were after the Akashic records, but their efforts to obtain them were thwarted by the Charmed Ones.

Conical Hats: A practice of old magick. These hats keep a Witch centered and focused, are spiritual points, and help channel magick.

Control Spell: Priestess Dantalion, while in possession of the Book Of Shadows cast this spell on Prue and Zion to make them do her bidding.

Through this book,
Weave this spell,
Create the pain of heaven to hell,
May she suffer

There was also a last verse in Latin to complete the spell. These words are not known. Once Zion was vanquished and the sisters and the Book Of Shadows were returned to good, the spell was broken. One would assume that the Books reversion erased this evil spell from its pages.

Cortez, Inspector: San Franciscan police Inspector intent on exposing the magick of the Halliwells. He changed his mind when Leo saved him from death at the hands of The Source.

Couriers, Demon: Former mortals consumed by sin, forced to become demonic sin pushers after death. These couriers can be vanquished by Lucas at will, but possess their own abilities. At least one demon courier has displayed the abilities to teleport and to create small explosive blasts.

Coven: A collective of Witches. A coven can be a simple forum for sharing knowledge of magick and friendship, or a group bound together to battle demons.

Create A Door, Spell To: A spell that the future Halliwells used to create a door. To do so you had to draw the outline of a door in a wall and then say these words:

When you find your way is blocked,
All you have to do is knock

Then one knocked on the drawn door and a real door appeared and opened.

Cruelty, Demon Of: A female demon that hardens the heart and corrupts the soul.

Crystal Sword: See Lords of War, The.

Cryokinesis: The ability to create ice, and freeze things, with your thoughts. Piper Halliwell had this power briefly while under Dantalions influence. With it she could encase people and objects in ice, as well as freeze them through. Once frozen they became extremely brittle and shattered easily.

Cryto: Cryto: The demon of vanity. Cryto was able to restore lost youth and beauty with a wave of his hand, as well as achieve the reverse, aging people to dust in seconds.
In the 16th century Cryto traveled the Dukedoms offering youth and beauty, but at a great price. In exchange for his services Cryto demanded the souls of those he restored.
A group of three Witches sought to stop Cryto and were able to skin him alive, believing this would prevent his spirit from returning. Rather than being vanquished the demon was reduced to a non-corporeal state, lying dormant until the members of Gail Altmans coven were able to summon him. Three Witches were needed to call the demon, and also three to destroy him.
To summon the spirit of the demon three Witches must link hands around a circle and chant these words:

We call on the demon Cryto,
Reach back throughout the ages,
Humbled by his power,
We invite him into our circle

If the call were successful Crytos ethereal presence would appear as an outline of a face in smoke.
The same spell could also be used to resurrect Cryto in a corporeal body, if a shell in the shape of a man had been fashioned for him to inhabit. Gail Altmans coven made Cryto a shell from the skin of the dead and summoned him into it. He rewarded them with their deaths.
A Witch from the Halliwell line at some point discovered the Witches that had attempted Crytos demise had been unsuccessful. As preparation for the day when his spirit might rise again a spell was written in the Book Of Shadows. Prue, Piper, and Phoebe were able to use this spell to vanquish Cryto permanently:

What Witches done and then undone,
Turn this spirit back within,
And separate him from his skin

Cryto Cryto is called into a Witches circle Cryto is vanquished

Cryto's ethereal form Cryto's aging power kills Gail Cryto in the Book Of Shadows

A Cupid agent Cupids: Agents of love that helped potential lovers find, and trust, each other. They used the Heartbeat Rings to slip between heartbeats and plant thoughts of subliminal encouragement. There were several Cupid agents, working all over the world. One of these agents sought the help of the Halliwells in order to vanquish Drazi, a demon of hate, and cosmic counterpart to the Cupids.
The Cupids exist in a realm removed from ours, and use the Heartbeat Rings to move between it and Earth.

Curse: A curse is a form of spell usually involving putting bad luck, pain, or other unpleasantness onto another. The Halliwell sisters have never performed a curse. Melinda Warren cursed the Warlock Matthew into a locket for eternity, twice, by using these words and other ingredients:

Outside of time,
Outside of gain

Know only sorrow,
Know only pain

For more information on various curses see: Infinite Lives Curse; Lycanthropy Curse, The; and Painting, The.

Daisy: The one time love of a Darklighter. Daisy does not know it but she is one day destined to become a Whitelighter. She was almost killed by the Darklighter Alec, but the sisters saved her.

Dantalion: High Priestess Dantalion was a high-ranking evil dignitary with the dangerous ability to shield her activities from the forces of good. She possessed great magickal skill and power, as well as the ability to teleport.
For a short time she was able to steal and wield the Halliwell Book Of Shadows, but the sisters were able to break the Unholy Union she had created between Prue and Zion, returning the book to good.
The Charmed Ones vanquished Dantalion with this spell from the Book Of Shadows:

Powers of light,
Magick of right,
Cast this blight,
into forevers night

Darla: The receptionist at Fine Romance. She was a Succubus, and used True Romance as a hunting ground to find potential victims.

Dark Priests: Guardians of demonic lore and knowledge. Dark Priests are now rare in the underworld, but are the only beings capable of conducting important ceremonies such as dark weddings and the coronation of a new Source.

Dark Wedding: Marriage consecrated to evil. A dark wedding can be made between two evil parties, or can be a marriage to an evil being, guaranteeing any offspring from the union are evil themselves.
A dark priest must perform the ceremony in a cemetery at night, with the groom drinking the blood of his new bride to seal the marriage.

Darklighters: The evil counterparts to Whitelighters. Their goal is to create evil through reproduction. To do this they seduce innocent women, though they are said to be incapable of love.
Darklighters possess similar abilities to Whitelighters: they can orb telepathically communicate and track people, and also alter their local molecular structures. With this ability they can create weapons from thin air, and alter their appearance. Instead of being able to heal as Whitelighters can they have the touch of death?
There is also a strain of Darklighters dedicated to destroying future Whitelighters. They are known as Spirit Killers. For more information see: Spirit Killers.

Davidson, Inspector Reece: Assigned to investigate the suspicious activities, and disappearance, of Cole Turner, Inspector Davidsons investigations into the Halliwells lead to his death at the hands of seekers.

Death: See: Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse, The.

Death, Angel Of: The herald of death can appear as a human male, when it chooses, and can sometimes be seen by Witches as a dark shadow following those destined to die.
The Angle is beyond the powers of Witches and demons, but serves neither good nor evil. Death is simply inevitable.
When a person dies the Angel will appear to carry their souls to the afterlife.
Though the Angel Of Death will sometimes appear to a Witch on its own, as a warning or a lesson, it can also be summoned before them. To summon the Angel recite these words:

Spirits of air, sand and sea,
Converge to set the Angel free,
In the wind I send this rhyme,
Bring death before me, before my time

Death Potion: A potion that stopped the heart immediately. It was comprised of lianda, ginseng weed, bloodroot, and other ingredients. Whoever drank this potion could be revived safely using CPR, as long as they were revived within five minutes to avoid brain damage. Prue Halliwell took this potion to free her spirit from her body and recite a spell on the astral plane and was subsequently revived by Andy Trudeau.

The power of Deflection: A Witchs best shield against the forces of darkness With this power all manner of magickal powers can be deflected, from energy attacks like fireballs to abilities such as telekinesis and particle stasis, sometimes painfully back upon the wielder. This power is channeled through the hands, manifesting as a bright blue circle of energy around them.
Witches that held this power were considered quite formidable. It was of great concern to the Whitelighter council when Eames was able to steal the ability, and all Whitelighters were put on alert as a result.

Demon Children: A cadre of demons that appeared as mortal children. Petty and vindictive, they were vulnerable to the magick of the Ice Cream Truck.
The children possessed various abilities; one was able to superheat his body, burning whatever he touched; another was able to perform magickal feats, such as telekinesis and pyrokinesis, by blowing on her hand; while yet another wielded the power of flame throwing.

Demon Dimension: The extra dimensional home of demons, ruled by The Source. It is unclear how demons move between it and the mortal plane, but many do so through teleportation powers such as shimmering. Whitelighters are also able to orb down there, while Witches have even been known to create spells capable of transporting them to the realm.

Demonic Bounty Hunters Demonic Bounty Hunters: Low level demons willing to hunt any being, even their own kind, in the name of greed. They enjoy killing Witches but are principally used to track and kill fugitive demons. Demonic Bounty Hunters are also known as Zotars.
Bounty Hunters are able to cast energy balls, lightning bolts, and ray from place to place at will. Their sense of smell is particularly attuned and they have a psychic ability to detect manifestations of magick, even able to follow a demon capable of shimmering.
A bounty hunter is easily vanquished with an energy ball, pyrokinesis or particle acceleration.

Demons: Evil supernatural beings. They are quite deadly and can possess a myriad of forms and magickal powers.

Devils Chord: A series of notes, that when sounded together, is capable of attracting demon children. The Ice Cream Man used it to capture them, imprisoning them in a pocket dimension, for The Nothing to vanquish.

Devlin: Charismatic leader of a Warlock faction, Devlin sought to install himself as ruler of the demon dimension, deposing The Source. The Charmed Ones were able to stop him, recovering the appropriated Ring Of Inspiration, and finishing him with the Warlock Vanquishing Spell.
Despite being only a Warlock Devlin was very strong, intelligent and cunning, proving a dangerous foe. His powers included the ability to blink, great strength, glamouring, and an ability to generate intense heat from his hands. Devlin also proved resistant to particle manipulation; neither freezing nor exploding.

Disempower A Witch, To: A Witch may remove another Witches power by taking a human heart, wrapping it in red ribbon, and saying these words:

Before the passing of this hour,
Take away all of their powers

Tuatha cast this spell to strip the Charmed Ones of their powers. It was reversed with her death. A heart is needed for every Witch you wish to disempower.

Dispossessing Spell: See: Life Essence.

Doorway To The Past: A portal through the ethereal void capable of sending an individual through time. Clyde, the malevolent spirit, was capable of summoning it to transport his clients between the present and their past.
While open the doorway presents a conduit for ghosts from the void to the mortal plane, allowing a means of escape for the more cunning among them.

Dragon Blade: Capable of absorbing the souls of those it touches, the Dragon Blade is a dangerous mystical weapon, recognizable by the green glow it sometimes emanates.
Though Yen Lo had tried to use the blade against him An Lings father captured Yen Los spirit with it, taking it and the blade through Limbos portal to reincarnation with him.

Dragon Charm: A Charm that is capable of warding off spirits and ghosts. It can be hung by a door to prevent these beings from entering a home, or carried to protect a person.

Dragon Warlocks: The line of Dragon Warlocks was the most feared Witch killers there were; strong enough that only the power of three could vanquish them. They possessed supernatural strength, the power to breath flame, and the ability to fly.
Prue Halliwell and her sisters vanquished the last Dragon with the power of three spell, after a granted wish resurrected her from death at his hands.

Drazi: A demon of hate. He was the cosmic opposite of Cupid. Drazi fell in love with a human woman, but Cupid redirected her love towards a mortal. Because of this Drazi wanted to kill Cupid, slowly and painfully, by destroying all the love matches he had made.
The Charmed Ones vanquished him with a potion, but the Heartbeat Ring saved him. Once it was removed Drazi became vulnerable to the potion and was destroyed.

Drazi is seemingly vanquished by The Charmed Ones Drazi uses Cupid's ring to destroy love

Dream Sorcerer: A mortal, Whitaker Berman, who discovered the ability to invade the dreams of others. While inside the dream of another he was able to control it absolutely. When he killed people in their dreams they died in reality. Prue, with the support of her sisters, fought and killed him after he invaded her dreams.

Dr. Stone: One of the Warlocks known as the collectors. He possessed the ability to blink as well as drain information from brains using a needle like protrusion from his fingers. When not using his powers his fingers appeared as normal. He posed as a human doctor, Dr. Stone, but whether this is his true name is not known.

Eames: A cunning Warlock that plotted to leave all Witches vulnerable by eradicating Whitelighters. To this end he planned and prepared for 10 yrs, targeting specific Witches and powers to steal.
It is unclear what Eames original abilities were but he displayed an impressive array of powers: blinking, fireballs, deflection, cloning, and transmogrification; as well as the abilities of both a Darklighter and the Whitelighter Natalie.
With these abilities Eames hoped to enter the Whitelighters celestial haven, accessible only by the power to orb, and slaughter all he encountered. The Charmed Ones, and Leo, broke the Whitelighter rules and vanquished him by ambush when he arrived. They first impaled him on a Darklighter arrow, the poison of which he was now vulnerable to because of the Whitelighter powers he absorbed, and then cast the following spell to complete the vanquish:

Time for amends,
And a victims revenge,
Cloning power turn sour,
Power to change turn to strange,
Im rejectin your deflection

The three sisters recited the first two lines together, and then Prue, Piper, and Phoebe each recited the last three lines respectively.

Elemental Conjuring: Wielded by the Evil Enchantress this ability allowed the creation of a variety of weather effects at will.
The Enchantress most often preferred to cast bolts of lightning or generate gale force winds, but her power was probably not limited to these manifestations.

Emma: Sworn to avenge the death of her fiancée at the hands of a demon, Emma is a mortal with some supernatural talent. She has no powers as a Witch and cannot cast spells, but she is able to successfully scry for demons.
Mistakenly tracking the demon Sykes, Emma ultimately discovered Belthazor was responsible for her loss. It was she who cast the Power Stripping Potion on Cole Turner, finally destroying his demon half and sating her vengeance.

Empaths: Mortals that can feel human emotion. When they die they can return as Empaths, counselors, elders, or teachers; using their sensitivity to guide mortals, ease their pain, and even heal them.

Prue as an empath Empathy: The ability to sense emotions. The empathic ability that was displayed by mortal Empaths was extremely dangerous for anyone but a born Empath. The weight of human emotions was enough to cripple the demon Vinceres, and would have killed Prue Halliwell within a day.
The ability allows access to emotions from great distances, and the power seems to increase over time once it is gained. Empaths born with the ability view it as a gift, and have no trouble controlling the power. Indeed they are able to channel it to good purposes, such as healing and comforting.
When Prue Halliwell received an empathic gift she was able to channel the ability she gained into a power boost for her own magickal gifts. It is most likely that she was able to do this because her abilities are rooted in emotions. The magickal strength provided by the empathy gave her a furnace of supernatural power for her telekinesis and astral projection, evolving them.
Because of this Prue was able to move things farther, and with more force than usual; levitate, and perform martial maneuvers. She also possessed an expanded astral form; her astral self was able to enter a body, remain separated from Prue once she had regained consciousness, and carry Prues thoughts and emotions into another body, causing the target to feel all she was feeling.

Empathy Removal Spell: A spell to remove the curse of empathy. Prue Halliwell instinctively created this spell to take the empathic ability from the demon Vinceres, whom she thought was an innocent named Vince.

Free thee empath,
Release his gift,
Let his pain be cast adrift

Once this spell had been cast the ability of empathy was released from Vinceres.
Though the power was transferred to Prue Halliwell this was only because Vinceres established physical contact while she said the spell. It is not clear what would have happened to the empathic ability were the two not in physical contact. It is to be assumed the ability would have vanished, or been transferred back to its original owner, Father Thomas.

Enchanted Kingdom: The realm of Trolls and Fairies. It exists in a dimension parallel to ours, separated by a thin veil. In the in betweens the spaces in between things, this veil can be breached and Trolls can enter our world. Fairies are able to enter our world at will, and are not limited to in betweens.
An in between can be something as simple as a doorway, the space between two rooms, or more abstract like midnight, the space between days, or shadows, the space between light and dark.
Children possess the ability to see the beings from the Enchanted Kingdom, but they are invisible to adults, unless fairy dust is used to make them innocent again.

Enchanting Spell: This spell is able to bestow the power to reveal evil on an object. Piper and Phoebe Halliwell used it to enchant a pair of glasses. When wearing them they were then able to see the true form of evil, no matter what guise it was hiding in, as well as evil spectral forces. To enchant an object hold it in your hands and recite these words:

Magick forces far and wide,
Enchant these so those cant hide,
Allow this Witch to use therein,
So she can reveal the evil within

Enchantment reveals Cole's true form Phoebe can see The Source's influence around Paige

Energy Balls: Bolts of concentrated energy. A full powered energy ball will kill any being it strikes, human, demon, or Witch, causing them to burst into flames and disintegrate. Only high-level demons, such as Belthazor, have been known to survive the impact of one. Lower powered energy balls are capable of killing without vaporizing a target, but most often will simply stun or irritate.
Rodriquez was the first evil being The Charmed Ones encountered with this power but Belthazor also possesses it, as do several other demons and Zotars.

A Warlock's stolen energy ball power A demon conjures and energy ball

Enter Realm of Illusion, Potion To: A potion created by Phoebe Halliwell that allows those that consume it to jump from reality into the world of illusion. This potion has a counterpart for leaving the world of illusion. The contents of both potions are unknown.

Essence Bearer: Magick vials capable of capturing and storing a life essence. These vials are the only things capable of holding a life essence captive once it has escaped from a body.

Evil Enchantress, The: One of the past life incarnations of Paige Matthews, the Evil Enchantress was a Witch in the twelfth century. She came late to her abilities and the practice of witchcraft but quickly became skilled and powerful. Undeniably the strongest Witch of her time, the Enchantress was adept at creating potent potions to achieve her goals.
The Enchantress sought to rule a kingdom, and planned to cast a love spell on him, forcing him to marry and impregnate her, after which time she could kill him and rule in his place. To pull this off she needed to wait for a sign that her powers were at their darkest, the shape of a prince in the stars. When the Enchantress saw this she locked up The Princes true love, Lady Julia, and cast her spell, making him love her.
Though her plan was impressive the Enchantress had not counted on the intervention of The Charmed Ones, including her future self Paige Halliwell. The sisters bound her powers preventing the dark future she envisioned from coming to be, and forcing her to live out that life as a mortal.

Evil, Spell To Turn Someone: A spell that was cast upon Cole Turner to return him to his former evil ways and force him to kill a Witch. The words and composition of this spell are unknown.
Phoebe Halliwell was able to create a potion that was able to undo this spells effects, and used it on Cole successfully.

Exploding: Acceleration of particles within molecules and energy, causing them to explode. This power is a growth of the stasis ability. For more information on this see: Particle Manipulation.
